SAN DIEGO – On Saturday, March 18th, 2017 from 1:00 – 5:00 PM, The 2nd Annual Sabor Latino Food, Beer & Wine Festival returns to the Fashion Valley Mall in San Diego. The culinary event is part of the 24th San Diego Latino Film Festival, one of the largest events of its kind in the United States

According to chef Alvaro Avila, the event’s main organizer, “Sabor Latino is an expression of the Latino cultures of San Diego and Baja California. It’s a festival where we bring you the most delicious of two worlds on one plate.”

The list of chefs alone, who will be preparing their specialties, reads like a “who’s-who” of our regional cuisine and includes: Sabina Bandera of famed Ensenada street cart La Guerrerense; Martín San Roman of Dobson’s San Diego and Asao Tecate; Ruffo Ibarra of Tijuana’s Oryx Capital, and Omar Mara of restaurant Mantou in Ensenada — a new favorite of A Gringo In Mexico’s.

For just $40, guests can enjoy UNLIMITED food, beer, and wine from these chefs and more, as well as wine and beer from some of the region’s best vintners and brewers.

For just ten bucks more at $50, guests can register for the VIP package, which includes entry into the event an hour before regular guests, as well as access to Harrah’s Resorts VIP Lounge. We crashed the lounge during last year’s event, and the additional wine and food on-hand were definitely worth the price of admission!

There’s also a “Designated Driver” ticket that includes unlimited food only for a mere $25. That’s a lot of great food and good times for very little money.

Tickets are on sale via the Festival’s website here.

Additionally, the festival will feature live music, an art showcase, photo opportunities, giveaways and more.

The organizers have partnered with car service Lyft to provide a 25% discount to and from Fashion Valley for those who wish to take full advantage of unlimited libation (just enter code SDLFF2017 in ‘promos’ to redeem, or enter your number on this website to have the credit automatically added to your account).

All proceeds from the Sabor Latino Festival will benefit the Media Art Center San Diego’s youth education and outreach programs.

This is a rain or shine event. 21+ only.

I admire you for braving the cartels and corruption. I lived in rio grand valley for twenty years, drove all over the republic sold sanborns Mexico travel insurance out of Progresso, Texas. I feel as informed as yourself regarding Mexico. Have a PHD and speak Spanish.
