SAN DIEGO – Join some of San Diego and Baja California’s best chefs and winemakers at “Baja Chefs on the Point” for an afternoon of amazing food and tastings this Sunday, October 18th from 2-6PM at Stone World Bistro & Gardens in Point Loma. There’s no border wait coming back and your ticket purchase will help support a great cause – proceeds benefit the Dewey Elementary School and military families by helping to build a new math and science lab for the school.

“Dewey is located in front of the Navy’s Gateway Housing complex on Rosecrans,” stated Jim Seman, event organizer and member of the Point Loma Optimists Club. “We have five elementary schools here on the peninsula and most have foundations that raise funds for educational programs, technologies and events. One of the schools raised over $230,000 just last year. Little Dewey raised $6,000 through their Parent Teacher Organization. These young military families are our neighbors and I’d like to help them do better.”

The lineup of talent for this event is stellar. San Diego chefs include Andrew Spurgin, Flor Franco and Priscilla Curiel. Baja brings it with Valle de Guadalupe chefs Martin San Roman and Erick Alcazar, and Tijuana’s Bianca Castro. The common element among these trans border culinarians is their love for Baja California cuisine.

You may have wanted to try Baja California wines, recently featured in an article at Cosmopolitan Magazine, but haven’t made it to the Valle de Guadalupe or been able to find them in stores (hint, try any Whole Foods Markets). Some of the region’s best wines will be represented by Baja Wine + Food, including Adobe Guadalupe, Villa Montefiori, Monte Xanic, La Lomita, and the fabled Vinícola Torres Alegre y Famalia.
